Tenerife – XX January, 2018. - The Ritz-Carlton, Abama in Tenerife offers the perfect short break in the cold Winter months and with Valentine’s Day on the horizon, a mecca for foodies in love! As we step out of January, abstaining from epicurean pleasures, February invites us to get stuck in to the finer things in life and there’s no better place to do so whilst basking under a balmy Winter sun.

With a choice of ten restaurants, a gourmet trail of ‘amour’ awaits, and at the Michelin-starred Kabuki chef David Rivero has curated an exclusive Valentine’s menu for lovers. Forging design, taste and service with pure theatre, guests can choose to dine in the ‘Kabuki Room’ main restaurant or the sushi bar, watching the flamboyant chefs at work. The Kabuki Terrace is the perfect place to start with cocktails, while watching the sun go down over the resort’s lush greens and Atlantic Ocean backdrop.

While enjoying the very best house sushi and sashimi, piece by piece, couples will receive narrative and exclusive culinary insights from the restaurant’s sushi artists guiding them through the evening’s special menu. Kabuki’s wagyu hot pot will heat things up and guests can also enjoy a presentation of the traditional Matcha tea ceremony. Kabuki’s ‘Wine Art’ experience is not to be missed - a sake pairing journey with 30 sakes from Junmai, Daiginjo to Koshu, paired with dishes, served both hot and cold by Kabuki’s sake sommelier.

The gourmet journey continues at the two Michelin-starred M.B Restaurant where eight Michelin star Martin Berasategui’s executive chef , Erlantz Gorostiza, has curated a creative and inventive culinary ride. Set in elegant surrounds, an imaginative menu will inspire and surprise. We recommend the pickled oyster with cucumber sake slush and warm vegetable hearts with shellfish salad. For dessert, the chocolate cake with curry on a pepper ice cream, candied orange and spiced cocoa juice is a real treat not only for the palette but for the mind too!

The culinary trail doesn’t stop there. On a short break of love, guests can sip cocktails on The Ritz-Carlton, Abama’s secluded beach, nibble on gourmet tapas at Txoko, share El Mirador’s signature seafood rice and feast on wagyu entrecote at 20/20 Steakhouse.

With a wide choice of accommodation, we recommend the Tagor’ Villas, for the ultimate in seclusion. Set in lush tropical gardens, the villas provide generous sized living space, elegant interiors and grand marble bathrooms with indulgent Asprey amenities. Each villa provides private pool access, and pool-side butler service on tap throughout the day.
