Special initiative to create a memorable experience for guests while raising awareness about the 10th anniversary of the global environmental movement

ABU DHABI, February 18 2018 – Working in line with a long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability, The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal is joining the world in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the global Earth Hour event on Saturday, March 24 at 8:30 p.m. In an effort to encourage positive steps towards reducing the environmental footprint, the hotel will switch off all non-essential lights for one hour while treating guests to a unique culinary experience with a special dinner in the dark.

For one hour, the hotel’s pristine beach space will transform into a dreamy, softly-lit, elegant dining atmosphere for a more intimate – and meaningful – dining experience in the dark. As the guests enjoy the exquisite flavors on the plate while wearing a blindfold, all other senses will awaken; with smells, textures and sounds all becoming intense.

The three-course dinner will feature a mouthwatering, albeit mysterious, menu prepared with energy saving methods and organic ingredients, available for guests for AED375 (inclusive of all service charges, VAT and fees). All funds will be donated to the Community Footprints program, designed by The Ritz-Carlton to exemplify their commitment towards a more sustainable future by protecting and preserving natural resources.

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement uniting people to protect the planet and is organized by World Wildlife Fund. Famously starting as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, the one-hour event has since grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide to show their commitment to the planet.
