WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 16, 2017 – The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown is pleased to announce the official launch of The Yard, the property’s beautiful outdoor urban retreat nestled in the heart of toney Georgetown, one of the nation’s most desirable neighborhoods. Step away from the hustle of the city and enjoy a breezy alfresco experience, delivered seamlessly with The Ritz-Carlton’s gracious and anticipatory service. The newly unveiled space, situated amidst a lush garden oasis, offers the trendiest new spot to gather with friends, sip craft cocktails, and eat delectable seasonal cuisine expertly prepared by Executive Chef Tyler Thaxton. With the launch of The Yard comes the debut of several new offerings including a dynamic Bottomless Brunch Menu, Gourmet Half-Price Happy Hour, Rosé Specials, and more. Whether it be a leisurely, sun-kissed Saturday brunch, or a sunset spent listening to sultry beats from a live DJ with a glass of rosé in hand, The Yard is unequivocally Georgetown’s best new hang-out spot.
Bottomless Brunch in The Yard features a $45 two-course prix fixe menu that includes bottomless make-your-own bloody marys and mimosas. The 1.5 hour experience offers guests ample time to sample an array of menu items and beverage offerings. Highlights from the Make Your Own Bloody Mary Menu include standby classics such as Sea Salt, Simple Tomato Base and Blue Cheese Olives, as well as inspired accoutrements for those with an explorative palate such as Smoked Salt, Green Tomatillo Base and Pickled Okra. For guests looking for an upgrade to their bloody mary, they must look no further than TheBootleg Mary, a custom, boutique bloody mary featuring jalapeño popcorn moonshine and house made horseradish bloody mary mix.
The Yard’s Bottomless Brunch Menu delivers a delicious riff on traditional brunch staples. Brunch kicks off with a tasteful selection of starters such as The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown’s infamous TJ’s Crab Mac & Cheese with Maryland Crab and Truffle. Other appetizer highlights include Tomato Toast – roasted garlic, fresh herbs, local goat cheese and Local Prosciutto Wrapped Summer Melon – peach vinegar reduction. For the main course, guests can choose from a wide array of indulgent brunch dishes, both savory and sweet. Standout highlights include Orange Créme Pancakes – fluffy pancakes with orange ricotta filling and house made curd; District Steak Street Tacos – spicy pickled cabbage, avocado; Scratch Made Mini Corn Dogs – honey batter, mustard, roasted garlic ketchup; South Street S’mores French Toast – chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker and South Street Burger – Allen Brothers black angus, Olli Virginia prosciutto, brie, lettuce, tomato and onion (optional: fried egg on top).
For an additional $4, brunch diners can fix their sweet tooth craving with The Yard’s selection of sweet enhancements including Bourbon Pana Cotta – grilled peaches, mint; Strawberry Shortcake – southern biscuit and Homemade Cookies – salted caramel and locally produced chocolate.
To satiate warm afternoons and long summer nights, The Yard offers specialty food and drink menus that are available daily from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Half-Price Happy Hour is also offered from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday. Gather your friends and relax on rustic-meets-chic outdoor lounge furniture and clink glasses under a canopy of trees strung with soft globe lights. Exclusively on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays all season long, a live DJ will enhance the night with sultry beats.
Specialty summer libations, priced at $17 dollars each, include whimsical variations on classic American cocktails. Signature standouts include South Street Spritzer Popsicle Cocktail – peach nectar vodka, aperol, prosecco, aperol spritz popsicle; The Explorer*– pineapple infused pisco, lime juice, simple syrup, pineapple wedge (*$1 donated to Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society); Afternoon Wake Up Call – i.w. harper bourbon, cold brew coffee, rum chata, amaro nonino; Summer Smoke – mezcal, crème de cassis, grapefruit juice, fresca and Things Going South – pyrat dark rum, rice wine vinegar, lemon juice,orange juice, cherry bitters, absinth mist and ron zacapa rum floater.
The evening food menu, created by Executive Chef Tyler Thaxton, consists of light bites and sharable snacks. Instant classics from the light bites include Summer Garden Rolls – radish, pickled carrot, mint sauce, Virginia peanut sauce and Fresh Crab Salad – crisp romaine, pomegranate. Highlights from the sharable snacks include Crispy Jerk Chick Wings – homemade chipotle ranch, celery; White Balsamic Watermelon – local burrata, crispy capers, watercress, olive oil; Beef Sliders Trio – pickled onion, pepper jack cheese, mayo and Flatbread – fresh pesto, confit chicken, sunflower sprouts, pickled onions.
“The Yard offers a completely different ambiance,” stated Tyler Thaxton, Executive Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown. “This seasons’ menus are really inspired by the literal concept of The Yard and being outdoors. I wanted to create a menu that was light, fresh, and fun, focusing on produce that one would find in their own backyard as a kid like fresh watermelon, juicy tomatoes, summer melons, and bright peppers.”
At opening, The Yard – located at 3100 South Street NW, Washington, DC 20007 – will serve food and cocktails daily from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with half-price happy hour available 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday. Bottomless Brunch, launching on Saturday, May 20th, will be offered on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A live DJ will perform Thursday to Saturday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
