ARLINGTON, VA. – January 11, 2017 – This Valentine’s Day enjoy a menu inspired by the world’s most romantic cities in fyve Restaurant.
Chef Alexander Gut invites guests on a culinary journey inspired by six of the most romantic destinations around the globe. Restaurant guests will experience a multi-course Valentine’s dinner inspired by Bordeaux, Venice, Puglia, Paris, Santorini and Virginia. “I chose the destinations based on their notoriety and popularity as locations couples visit to celebrate romantic moments in their lives,” says Chef Gut. “France, Italy and Greece are well known romantic destinations and I wanted to celebrate these places through the menu. The menu reflects elements of the beautiful French countryside, the romantic, serene island of Santorini, and the passionate flavors in Italian cuisine. I love using local produce and wanted to tie in a local destination as well, and chose Virginia because ‘Virginia is for Lovers’”.
The culinary voyage begins with a choice of appetizer, Pugalian Style Burratta, Parisian Beef Tartare or “The Virginian”, a house made biscuit featuring local Virginia ham and pepper jelly. The main courses journey through Venice, Bordeaux, and Santorini with choices between Venetian Squid Ink Tagiatelle, featuring house made pasta, squid, lobster, clam, tomato, capers and olives; Bordeaux Inspired Duck Breast, served with carrot, duck confit and truffle croquette and blueberry and Bordeaux gastrique; or Greek Isle Braised Lamb Shank, served with chickpea stew, tomato, zucchini, rosemary and tzatziki. Pastry Chef Caroline Ballam has prepared desserts to share also influenced by romantic destinations. Guests will enjoy a choice of Parisian Strawberry and Chocolate Religious, Limoncello Tiramisu, Chocolate Baklava or Panna Cotta with Virginia Hard Cider Gelee. The pre-fixe menu is offered at $79 per person, $129 with wine pairing.
