Boston, MA June 19th 2017 -- Every Monday and Tuesday evening throughout the summer, Artisan Bistro features "Chef Shucks" with Executive Chef Robert Bruce, who now calls Boston home after several years at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. Chef Robert is excited to "jump behind the Artisan bar" at the start of each work week where he'll be shucking fresh oysters for guests because according to him, "nothing beats the warm weather quite like fresh local oysters and a cold microbrew."
From 4-7pm each night, $2.00 shucked oysters are available at the Artisan Bar. These include: Onset oysters from Cape Cod, Katana Bay oysters from Martha's Vineyard, and Blue Point oysters from Long Island. Some of the best beverage pairings recommended by Chef Robert to accompany these East Coast oysters include:
- a Dry champagne such as Taittinger - the effervescence is a great contrast to the smooth-velvety texture of the oysters.
- a Sauvignon Blanc such as Nautilus - its zest nicely balances with strong accoutrements such as tabasco or a mignonette.
- an Albarino White - Its minerality and citrus-finish complement the strong brine of the oysters.
During "Chef Shucks," Artisan Bistro is also offering a selection of infused vodkas in a “custom oyster shooter." Guests may select one Tito’s Vodka infusion (bacon or cilantro/lime) and then one mixer (roasted tomato/horseradish or chili/watercress) to customize their oyster shooters, which are served in flights of four (four oysters are included as well.) Shooters are available for $20.00 each.
