HAIKOU, CHINA – JANUARY 2018 – The Ritz-Carlton, Haikou is pleased to introduce the new Assistant Food & Beverage Director; Alexander Schijf. With the spirit of constant challenge and continuous innovation, Mr. Schijf will lead the hotel Food & Beverage team to offer more and more unique offering for our guests.

Mr. Schijf, who has extensive experience in Food & Beverage, joined Marriott International Group in 2010 and has worked in properties within the company in; Zurich, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Beijing. Mr. Schijf joins us from Beijing, where his last post was also as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at The Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel. After joining Marriott International, Mr. Schijf won various honors with excellent performance within the company, such as the “Winner of Asia Pacific Bar Ritual Competition,” as well as a member of the “Asia Pacific Beverage Advisory Board” and many more.

Start the day off on the right palate at Terra all-day dining restaurant which offers a blend of Mediterranean, Italian, Southeast Asian, as well as regional Chinese cuisine through a bountiful buffet with live cooking stations. “Terra” means earth in Italian, which is a guiding light for the chefs to select only the freshest ingredients to intrigue diners from early breakfasts to dinner feasts.

To quench the thirst generated from the heat of the equator’s sunlight, a variety of freshly brewed Ice Teas can be chosen from at The Ritz-Carlton Bar and Lounge, where Afternoon Tea is served. Golfers may reinvigorate with a southern favorite: the half iced tea, half lemonade drink. Detoxifying properties of the Honey Rose tea utilize antioxidants of Pomegranate Juice and Black Tea to clear one’s mind after a trying day on the fairways.

For dinner, guests may indulge in luscious Cantonese cuisine at Tin Lung Heen serving a la carte as well as traditional dim sum. Whet the appetite with savory Smoked Salmon or Duck Breast Salad, before engaging in the signature dishes which include Stuffed Whole Baked Chicken served with Wild Mushrooms and Black Truffle, Double-Boiled Sea Conch with Matsutake Mushrooms Stock “Kung Fu” style, or Marinated Boneless Beef Short Ribs in Bamboo Charcoal. Those with a sweet tooth may satisfy their cravings with a Piña Colada Cheese Cake or perhaps a traditional Mango Pudding with Coconut Sago.

There may be no place more beautiful to watch a spectacular sunset overlooking the championship golf courses than at Flair – the stylish rooftop lounge featuring cozy seating areas, an open fire place, multiple bars and both private dining rooms and lounge areas. Flair is serving signature handcrafted cocktails and single malt selections to pair with Asian tapas and seafood delicacies.
