More than HUF 11 million to SOS Children's Villages

Budapest, 19 March 2019 – HUF 11.158.586 was raised by three Marriott branded hotels during the autumn of 2018 in Marriott International’s You Eat, We Give fundraising campaign. For the first time this year, The Ritz-Carlton`s European properties, including The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest also joined the charity campaign.

Altogether €258.000 was raised for youth charities across Europe in 2018 in order to support young people into independent lives and careers. Throughout September and October, Marriott donated the equivalent of €1 for every lunch and dinner served to guests and visitors at three Budapest based and one Kecskemét based Marriott branded hotels to fund a variety of programmes that support young people from challenging backgrounds. Participating restaurants were Deák St. Kitchen (The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest), Peppers Mediterranean Grill (former restaurant of Budapest Marriott Hotel) and Oléo Pazzo Mediterranean Bistro (Courtyard by Marriott Budapest City Center), Bistorant (Four Points by Sheraton Kecskemét).

“Marriott has always been committed to helping the life of young people. We are more than proud to be part of the international You Eat, We Give initiative, and what makes us even prouder is that our guests happily joined the fundraising programme” – said Arne Klehn, General Manager of Budapest Marriott Hotel. “The reason we offered the donation to SOS Children's Villages is that we do think that the organization is doing a great job in supporting disadvantaged families and children in the most effective way.”

“Since the opening of the Four Points by Sheraton Kecskemet Hotel and Conference Center has paid particular attention to its social responsibility. We have a very good relationship with the employees and their proteges of the SOS Children's Village in Kecskemét. The You Eat We Give program is a super opportunity to further support their work. So we were very pleased to join this initiation and to involve guests in the uplifting sense of donation.” – said Tibor Polgár, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Kecskemet Hotel and Conference Center.

Part of Marriott’s Europe-wide “World of Opportunity” initiative, the You Eat, We Give promotion aims to tackle youth unemployment by donating to partner charities. Marriott’s guests and visitors have helped to raise more than €3 million cash and in-kind donations since the You Eat, We Give campaign’s launch in 2012, and Marriott employees have worked an extra 70,000 voluntary hours helping young people on the path to a career.
