Sanya Bay starts from Sanya Port in the east, which is lined by Binhai Avenues extending over 10km long, and ends at Tianya Bay. Here you can experience the real life of a fisherman by approaching the trawling army operating the beach of Haipo in the west. Don’t even think trawling is an easy thing. Each net is up to 100 meters long, which takes two to three hours for one single operation. The net is released in the afternoon and trawled up from about 8:00 p.m. When the sun starts to set, rosy clouds are spread all over the sky. Tianya Haijiao (the Edge of Sky and the Rim of Sea) lies below the Xiamaling Hill, about 50 kilometers west of Yalong Bay. In the ancient times, Hainan Island was a place where exiles lived because there was no means of transportation and few inhabitants in the island. When those exiles in the ancient times came here, they would find no way out but to face the sea and give a sigh. The description of the scholars and poets in the ancient history recorded many tragic ends here. Odd rocks are erecting under the azure sky and coconut trees are dancing in the wind near the blue sea. The scenery is really picturesque and enchanting. On the beach is a giant rock, on which carved with two Chinese characters "Tianya" (the Edge of Sky). Beside it is a reposing rock, on which was carved with "Haijiao" (the Rim of Sea).On the left of the two rocks is a rock in cone shape. The word on it reads "Column of Southern Sky", which indicates that here is the southern end of the motherland. Allegedly, Chenzhe, the prefecture in Ch'ing Dynasty, wrote "the Edge of Sky", and an unknown scholar from the same dynasty wrote "the Rim of Sea" and "Column of Southern Sky". The handwriting is forceful and strong.

West Island, nicknamed Ximaozhou, lies on the waters 7.02 sea miles to the west of Sanya City, opposite in distance to the End of the Earth. The island is in the shape of a pyramid on sea, extends 2,350 meters from the south to the north and 900 meters from the east to the west with a total range of 212 hectares. It is the second largest island in the surrounding of Hainan. The island lies within the zone of tropical low latitude and features tropical monsoon oceanic climate. The yearly average temperature is 27℃.West Island incorporates all sorts of water fun at an activity center covering a marine area of 46 square kilometers. Currently the entertaining items available are fishing, diving, motor boating, water skiing, parachute gliding, sail boating, banana boating, seabed walking, glass-boat sightseeing,and more. Boundary Islet is located in Lingshui County, a one-hour drive from Sanya. The ridge piled up on Mount Ox (Niuling) is the division of north and south for the eastern part of Hainan Island. In human aspect, the southern side of the mountain is mainly inhabited by the Li ethnic people while the northern side is mainly resided by the Han people. Geographically, the north mainly features plains while the south is characterized by hilly land. Such geographical division has formed two different climate conditions. The warm air current from the south is blocked by the ridges extending from the east to the west. As a result, when standing on the islet, you will often see such wonder of “rains at ox head but fine at ox tail”.

Named “Guqizhou” in ancient times and covers an area of 1.49 square kilometers, the island has an irregular shape, extends 1,400 meters from the east to the west, and 110 meters wide from the south to the north.
