As Jean-Michel Cousteau says, “All kids start out as scientists, constantly asking ‘Why? What’s that? How does it work?’” Ritz Kids resort experiences tap into that innate curiosity by introducing our youngest guests to both the natural wonders and the rich cultural traditions of our resort locations. Immersive and adventurous, the resort experiences provide your child with enthralling activities to reward their interest in the beauty and workings of the world we live in. With a diverse collection of activities based on the four pillars of the program – water, land, environmental responsibility and culture – kids are swept away by everything from coral reefs and forests, to recycling and sustainability, storytelling, art and even food.
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas offers junior guests a variety of special services and amenities, including:
- Snorkel and scuba programs (Children ages five and older are welcome on our snorkeling outings and ages eight and older on our scuba tours)
U.S. Sailing Certified Instructors from Island Time Watersports
will instill a love of sailing by offering a fun experience that is tailored to each child’s specific interest and skill level. Personalized instruction is provided on a variety of water sports equipment that includes Hobie cats, windsurfers, stand up paddle boards, kayaks and Optimist Prams. Students will receive a U.S. Sailing Level 1 Certification booklet to track their progress.
Introduce your child to sailing with Island Time Watersports' Kids Sailing Camp! Our team of US Sailing Certified Instructors work with students age 8-12 on the fundamentals of sailing, with both half and full day options. Our half day camp runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. every Monday Wednesday and Friday, with class sizes limited to three students per instructor. We start the morning with a "chalk-talk", highlighting our goals for the day before getting hands-on experience aboard a Hobie.
When our morning ends, students participating in the full-day camp have lunch with their instructors at Sails before heading back to the beach for our afternoon "chalk-talk". Students will apply the fundamentals they learned that morning to their very own Optimist, concluding at 4 p.m.
Students will receive a US Sailing Certification Booklet with credentials based on the conditions sailed in and skills covered, as well as Island Time Watersports' Introduction to Sailing workbook.
Half day sessions are $150 per child; full day sessions are $245 per child and includes chaperoned lunch at Sails. Kindly note the morning is more suitable for students with no sailing experience, while the afternoon is for proficient sailors.
