Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year begins on the first of Tishrei, the first month of the Jewish calendar, this year it will be held on October 2nd and 3rd. It is considered the traditional anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve and the conception of the world. Rosh Hashanah 2016-2017 is year 5777 according to the Jewish year count.

Holiday traditions include blowing of the Shofar– an ancient musician instrument made of a hollow ram’s horn and a festive dinner on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, which begins at sundown. During the Rosh Hashanah dinner it is customary to eat symbolic food such as apple dipped in honey to symbolize a “sweet year”, a head of fish to be “the head and not the tail”, dates, pomegranates, leek, beet leaves and other holiday dishes. The evening is escorted by special blessings that are recited throughout the meal. Outside of Israel it is expected to host another “second” Rosh Hashanah dinner on the following day.

The Ritz-Carlton, Herzliya is hosting traditional festive Rosh Hashanah dinners created by the hotels team of passionate chefs. The dinners are open to hotel and outside guests:

  • Rosh Hashanah Dinner on  Oct 2nd  at USD 165.00  per person, subject to VAT
  • Second Rosh Hashanah Dinner on Oct 3rd at  USD 100.00 per person, subject to VAT
  • For children between the age of 0 to 4 years, dinner is provided on complimentary basis
  • For children between the ages of 4-12 years, dinner if provided at 50% off the full price
