The Spirit of Nujuma

Design

Set on the edge of the crystal-clear Al Wajh Lagoon, Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a conscious homage to its location. Designed with a light touch approach, every aspect of the build encapsulates the protection of the island’s precious ecology where habitats are respected, and wildlife goes undisturbed. While Saudi history and culture is integral to the overall aesthetic, the spectacular Blue Hole, with its unique range of azure hues, defines the architectural language that informs this harmonious setting. Organic shapes, rich textures and ceramic artefacts showcase the passion and skill of traditional artisanship bringing an intergenerational narrative to life throughout the interiors, providing enhanced comfort and a genuine impression of destination.

Inspired Organic Design

Built with sustainable timber clad in rope, each of the 65 villas emulate the contours of shells that, in both color and form, naturally blend into the landscape. Set amid soft white sands or linked in a floating ring above the sea, they have been styled to offer elevated privacy and luxurious comfort. The low-density structures are fringed with rope, providing shade when needed, while the interiors feature panoramic windows, sea-view private pool, an open living space and an array of thoughtfully procured artefacts that celebrate this spectacular setting. Mindful of the delicate eco system, the villas have all been carefully placed to complement the existing habitat and take full advantage of uninterrupted views.

Sita

Dining

Taking its design inspiration from Saudi’s vibrant age-old bazaars, Sita is where further exploration leads to an array of discoveries. Named after its six impressive pavilions, it has a dramatic domed central area with cooling featured fountain. Comprised of a French-style patisserie and Levantine restaurant, it also houses a spice library, open-air kitchen and cavernous clay oven, where each day bread is freshly baked. Evoking Saudi hospitality and the much-lauded social aspect of mealtime, the kitchen offers an inviting welcome, while guests watch the theatre of pita and loaves deftly kneaded and served deliciously warm.

Tabrah

Evocative of the spontaneous elegance of a beach villa, Tabrah embodies the spirit and warmth of a familial home. Meals are enjoyed on the outside terrace or indoors, where casual seating and sofas sit below blue-tiled arches mirroring the azure tones of the ocean. The Saudi renown for homespun hospitality, is evident in the open house setting where guests are invited to savor the beauty, flavors and bounty of the chef’s culinary mastery. Rattan and wood furnishings, alongside constellation-inspired patterning add to the welcoming spirit, made all the more splendid by uninterrupted sea views.

Perfect Symmetry

Inspiration has been drawn from the unique location of Neyrah Spa at the heart of the resort. Emulating the equilibrium and harmony of a landscaped garden, this is where the journey of enlightenment begins. Drawing on the aesthetic of the resort, the outdoor treatment cabins and Yoga Pavilion mirror the wood and rope styling intrinsic to the design, creating a holistic setting rooted in this rare environment.

The Spa

Tapping into the Saudi’s observance of the stars for guidance, the spa has been built to encompass this journey of discovery with a holistic menu of treatments promoting self-awareness and reflection. The scent of oud, moringa and peregrina tree oil permeates the backdrop, while richly detailed wood, woven textiles and ancient artefacts give context and place to the design’s Arabian heritage.
