November 14 and December 5, 2009

The Ritz-Carlton presents A Day of Social Savvy; where children are both seen and heard during the full-day etiquette program. 

Hosted by the etiquette experts of The Judith Ré Académie for Instruction in the Social Graces and the service professionals of The Ritz-Carlton, this innovative program invites young ladies and gentlemen, ages 8 through 12, to develop their social and personal skills.

Fall classes will be held on November 14 and December 5, 2009. The day of activities includes instruction, demonstration and participation in the following areas: proper introductions, table setting and manners, food preparation and presentation, telephone and cell phone etiquette, thank-you note writing, polite conversation, health care, dancing and social “mishaps.”

A Day of Social Savvy for children begins with a welcome gathering over hot chocolate and muffins, followed by a tour of The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common.  This unique program includes the chance to work alongside the hotel’s pastry chef, preparing delicate desserts. The hands-on approach is emphasized throughout the day, enabling children not just to enjoy, but to actually create a proper social decorum. A Day of Social Savvy culminates in an evening dance during which the children learn the art of ballroom dancing and experiment with some high energy and modern dance steps.

All activities are hosted within the hotel, where young ladies and gentlemen are taught the power of poise and grace, amidst the elegant function rooms and restaurants. 

Enrollment for A Day of Social Savvy is limited, and reservations are required.  The fee is $325 per child, which includes meals, amenities, instruction and taxes for this daylong event.

 The Ritz-Carlton, is pleased to present Social Savvy: Staying Connected with Manners in a Wireless World. This new, innovated and very current children's program is designed expressly to enhance social skill awareness within our every day electronic world, infused with elements of traditional etiquette standards.

Hosted by author and etiquette expert Judith Re', of The Judith Re' Academie for Instruction in the Social Graces, and the service professionals of The Ritz-Carlton,  this customized program invites ladies and gentlemen, ages 10 through 14, to develop their electronic guidelines, hand in hand with essential social and personal skills.

The program will be held from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, November 15 and December 6, 2009. The day of activities include: instruction and participation in  wireless manners; responsibility in public vs. private areas, voice modulation, personal text messaging, e-mails, cell phone etiquette and other electronic correspondence, Sound Out discussion, table setting, American dinning skills; table manners, appropriate dinner conversation, handling difficult foods, menu ordering, special dietary ordering skills and tipping, proper introductions, pastry making and presentation, discussion on the cultural impact  tea  has made in our civilization.

Social Savvy: Staying Connected with Manners in a Wireless World begins with a warm welcome, gathering over a selected beverage and finger foods, during the welcome arrival student conversation is encouraged, followed by a tour of The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common, then on to a private room for the afternoon’s instruction. This cutting edge program includes the chance to creatively work alongside the hotel's pastry chef, preparing delicate desserts. A hands-on approach is emphasized throughout the day, not only allowing children the enjoyment of building social awareness, yet at the same time, demonstrating how to incorporate these skills in their everyday life. Social Savvy: Staying Connected with "Manners in a Wireless World" culminates with delightful Japanese tea learning about proper nuances and diverse cultures.

All activities are hosted within the hotel, allowing young ladies and gentleman to develop the power of poise and grace, amidst The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common elegant function rooms and restaurants.
