Surrounded by a wealth and variety of rare natural beauty of Chile’s largest city and capital, Santiago provides easy access to both snow-capped mountains and sandy beaches.
In 1541, the Spanish conquistador Valdivia discovered this pristine land in the central valley of Chile, and chose to settle Santiago partly because of its moderate climate.
Today, Santiago is a vibrant metropolis with impressive modern architecture and shopping. Among South America’s most important financial centers, the city also boasts numerous cultural attractions, including two symphony orchestras, and countless museums and parks.
