The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou has appointed Chef Hubert Ly to the culinary team as the new Executive Sous Chef, supporting Executive Chef Lincoln Lim in leading the existing strong culinary team to greater heights and achieving the next plateau.

A native of Paris, Chef Hubert has mastered fine dining and traditional French and Mediterranean-style cuisine. Chef Hubert brings with him more than 20 years of culinary expertise gained from working in various restaurants and five-star hotels worldwide. During his early years in France, Chef Hubert started his culinary career as a professional in several Michelin-starred restaurants including Michel Rostang in Paris, La Palme d’Or in Cannes, Le Tétou in Juan-Les-Pins and so on. Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou, Chef Hubert worked in several famed hotel groups as Chef de Cuisine in Shenzhen and Beijing.

With years of rich experience, Chef Hubert has a profound understanding and control of the intricacies and essence of French cuisine. The respect for ingredients is embodied everywhere in his concept of cooking. Chef Hubert insists on obtaining the freshest, sustainable and seasonal ingredients, and prepares them in the simplest way to sublimate the ingredients themselves. While satisfying the diners’ discerning taste buds, he also bends his efforts to make the diners feel his affection and passion for the delicacy.

He also pursues balance between different ingredients. From the light flavor at the beginning to the intense aftertaste, Chef Hubert gets his creative inspiration by constant practice, in either traditional French way or modern fusion style.

Chef Hubert enjoys traveling to discover different cultures and traditions, like Asian culture, and is also keen on playing football and riding motorcycles.
