On 2 November, 2018, The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty turned five. Our friends and business partners joined us to celebrate the occasion.

Since the very first day, when The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty opened its doors in November 2013, the hotel has been offering the most exclusive lodging experience for both first-time and regular visitors to the beautiful city of Almaty. In these five years, the hotel has welcomed thousands of guests from more than 100 countries. In addition, the hotel has hosted a great number of weddings and gala events, family celebrations, romantic dinners, business meetings and conferences.

Speaking about achievements, Mr. Göktaş the General Manager also noted the growth of the tourism market in Kazakhstan. The increase in the number of tourists is evidenced by changes in the hotel’s occupancy rate: 5 years ago, the average occupancy rate was 50%, and in 2018 it’s almost 70%. Furthermore, the hotel’s internal statistics point to a growing number of tourists who come to Almaty as a holiday destination: business travellers now account for 80% of the total number of guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty, down from 95%. It means that over the past five years the number of tourists coming for leisure has increased from about 5% to 15%.

“I believe we have made a meaningful contribution to further enhancing brand awareness of Kazakhstan. We have shown thousands of our guests the magnificence of the city and the country, as well as the beauty and hospitality of the people. Every day, our Ladies and Gentlemen are doing a tremendous job, because at the end of the day, a tourist’s perception of the city and its people depends on them,” added Can Göktaş.

As for plans for the future, in the coming year The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty expects to open two new concept restaurants. In addition to updating the seasonal menu in Vista, we will add new items and culinary offerings such as Indian cuisine evenings. Finally, next year our guests will be able to use a mobile app for online check-in, thus saving time, the most precious resource of every individual.
