The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C. Appoints George Munz as General Manager

WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Munz, a 24-year veteran of The Ritz-Carlton with tenures at some of the most prestigious resorts and hotels in the United States, has been appointed general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C. 

Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C., Munz served as General Manager for The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. During his three year tenure, Munz’s hotel earned or sustained numerous awards and accolades, such as the AAA Four Diamond Award, Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Award, Travel + Leisure 500 World’s Best Hotels Award and Condé Nast Traveler Gold Award. 

Munz joined The Ritz-Carlton in 1991 as Director of Sales at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey. Soon thereafter, he was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, Mauna Lani on the Big Island of Hawaii. In 1996, he joined the Chicago International Sales Office as Regional Sales Director and Corporate Director for Incentive Sales. 

In 2000, Munz returned to California to lead the Sales and Marketing efforts at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. After five years of successfully leadership, he was promoted to Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms and in 2007 was promoted to Hotel Manager, adding the food & beverage operation to his resume. He eventually and simultaneously, held a dual and unique position of both Hotel Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing before serving as the General Manager for The Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix. 

Munz holds a B.A. in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Florida State University and is an active member of the community, serving as past board member, The Ocean Institute in Dana Point and Board Chair, Mission Parish School in San Juan Capistrano.
