Tucked away on a quiet mountainside between Beaver Creek and Arrowhead in the majestic Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Bachelor Gulch is a village aptly named for its original settlers – seven pioneering, single men who came in search of wealth and a better life.
Early life in Bachelor Gulch was challenging, as the fledgling community strove to survive the hardships of logging and cattle-raising. The area enjoyed brief success with high-altitude lettuce crops in the early 1900s, but the Great Depression proved to be too much, and the farmers sold their land to two local ranchers who used the area for herding cattle and grazing sheep. Bachelor Gulch remained privately owned until the 1980s when the development of Beaver Creek ushered in a new, prosperous era for the village.
Today, Bachelor Gulch is the centerpiece of Beaver Creek's village-to-village ski experience. More intimate and removed than its Beaver Creek or Arrowhead neighbors, Bachelor Gulch proved to be the perfect setting for a family-oriented ski resort that combines privacy with authentic Rocky Mountain luxury.
