Main Beach, the largest stretch of beach in Laguna, is located in the heart of Laguna Beach. The beach is known for its white lifeguard tower located in the middle of the beach. This beach is mostly sand bottom with shorebreak type surf, making it popular for swimming, body boarding and surfing. Surfing is not permitted during the summer months because the surf can be dangerous with strong rip currents and heavy shore break waves. The beach offers basketball , volleyball and a variety of sand activities. There is also a boardwalk runs the length of the beach.

Doheny State Beach is an excellent location for barbecues and family gatherings. Its offers beautiful grassy lawns, tables and grills, as well as volleyball courts and a pristine sandy beach. A rocky area at the beach's western end is perfect for divers and anglers and during low tide, the tide pools are available for exploring.

San Onofre Beach has several surf breaks on its more than three miles of coast, ranging from the beginner’s gentle breaking waves to one of the premiere surf breaks, Trestles.
- Trestles surfing area is known for its consistent waves.
- Surf Beach is divided into three breaks spots known as The Point, Old Man’s and Dogpatch (named from north to south). All perform best on a south swell, though the beach takes any surf and slows it down to a very slow pace.
- Trails is the most southern of surf spots at San Onofre and includes both rock bottom and sandy breaks.

Participating Tallships and Great Schooners will include the Pilgrim, the Pilgrim of Newport, the Bill of Rights the Swift of Ipswich, Spike Africa and more.
