Grande Lakes Outfitters features the ORVIS Orlando Two-Day Fly Fishing school, private guided fly fishing from Hyde Drift Boats and private guided eco-tours on Shingle Creek, the headwaters to the Florida Everglades.
Fly fishing excursions take place on the 40-acre Shingle Pond (parallel to Shingle Creek), which sits on the most remote section of Grande Lakes. Here, guests board Hyde Drift boats alongside an ORVIS-endorsed guide team and fish the private waters of Shingle Pond, where fly fishing enthusiasts have the chance to reel in trophy Largemouth Bass. Guests also have an opportunity to spin or fly fish two miles of Shingle Creek on the Headwaters to the Everglades. During their fly fishing adventure, guests also can catch a glimpse of bobcats, deer and wild turkey roaming at the shoreline.
For guests who want to experience a taste of old Florida's natural preserves, Grande Lakes Outfitters' interpretive eco-tours offer guided canoe or kayak tours of Shingle Creek. Guests can learn about the history of Shingle Creek and observe the native species such as alligators, bald eagles, osprey and barred owls in their natural habitat.
