Fashion takes centre stage in Germany's capital for the Berlin Fashion Week. The latest trends can be seen at trade fairs and public shows, fashion shows and exhibitions, and, not infrequently, in the audience, who often are even a step ahead! The summer collection brightens up mid-January and the winter collection keeps us cool in early July each year.The fashion capital Berlin stands above all else for young design and innovative ideas. The Berlin lifestyle in a city constantly reinventing itself has inspired fashion designers and created a distinctive look. In addition to street and urban wear, sustainability is becoming increasingly important in Berlin.Besides the major fashion shows mostly for the trade, such as BREAD&BUTTER at the former Tempelhof Airport, PREMIUM at Gleisdreieck and the MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK at the Siegessäule, Berlin Fashion Week means a number of events for the general public as well.
International Film Festival Berlin – Berlinale

February in Berlin is all about film: international stars on the red carpet, enthusiastic fans from around the world – and, above all, some great films. Around 400 films are shown at the Berlinale and tickets are available for everyone, because the Berlinale is the world’s largest public film festival. For ten days, the festival features films that inspire, touch and let you discover new worlds.
The red carpet at the festival welcomes major stars coming to present their films to their fans and the critics. In 2016, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Jude Law, Julianne Moore and Colin Firth came to the Berlinale, just to drop a few big names. And Meryl Streep was serving as jury president.
ISTAF Indoor 2017

In his second festival issue the artistic director Berno Odo Polzer will focus on “Time and the Digital Universe”. Special concert formats, contemporary positions in composition and installations form the festival.
The Berliner Festspiele will be hosting MaerzMusik – Festival for Time Issues from 11–20 March 2016. In his second edition, the artistic director Berno Odo Polzer will continue to focus on the phenomenon of time as a central artistic, political and social category of today. In concerts, installations, performances and discourse formats, the festival will open up spaces for experience and reflection that connect the temporality of the arts with current debates in the fields of computer science, philosophy, economy, and political and social sciences. “Time and the Digital Universe” is the topic of the two-day opening conference of “Thinking Together”, a theory-related format that will run from 12:00–18:00 at Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
37th Berlin Half Marathon

DFB Pokalfinale (Men)

Locals immediately know that the Cup Finale is happening again in the capital! The DFB Cup (German Football Association Cup) has been held each year since 1985 in Berlin's Olympic Stadium and it is the second-most important title in national club football after the German championship.
Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of Cultures)

Since 1996, the Carnival of Cultures has been celebrated every year on Pentecost weekend with opulent costumes, powerful makeup, imaginative masks, and decorated hand carts. Over the four-day street festival, there are culinary delicacies and all sorts of items from all over the world on offer. The highlight of the Carnival of Cultures is the street procession on Pentecost Sunday with around 4,700 participants from 80 countries who boldly celebrate the cultural diversity of Berlin with traditional costumes and ritual dances.
Fête de la Musique
- June 21, 2017 Open-Air Stages in All of Berlin
On the occasion of the Fête de la Musique musicians enter the city as their stage: The import hit from France encourages amateur musicians and professional musicians to take up their instruments every year on June 21 and perform their music for free to the public at free concerts. From 4p.m. to 10p.m. music will be heard also throughout Berlin on public streets, squares, and parks without electricity or amplifiers.
17th Long Night of the Sciences

Science becomes an experience on the "brightest night of the year": From 5p.m. until midnight, numerous scientific institutes in Berlin and Potsdam invite you to visit laboratories, archives, libraries and lecture halls which are not normally open to the public. Scientists present their area of expertise, show experiments and answer to the manifold questions of the visitors. A special programme for children is included as well.

“When I hear Wagner’s music, I always think of the sunrise from Nietzsche’s Zarathustra – the crescendo of colours, the epic naturalism, the illumination of a huge spirit. It sweeps you away, like great cinema,” avows Gustavo Dudamel, conductor of the concert at the Waldbühne. This is not the first time he will guest conduct at this event. Already in 2008, the Venezuelan conducted the Berlin Philharmonic’s traditional conclusion to the season, debuting with the orchestra at the same time. The concert of Spanish and Latin American music was entitled Los ritmos de la noche, and delighted not only the audience but also the press. The event may well go down – the critic from the Tagespiegel wrote – as the coolest conducting debut in the history of the Philharmoniker.

37th Long Night at the Museums

Going to a museum late at night – that's the idea behind the "Long Night at the Museums" in Berlin. Several Berlin museums first came up with this idea in 1997 and the "Long Nights" are now as much a part of Berlin as the TV Tower and the Ku'damm. Once a year the city shines a special spotlight on the riches it has on display year round. Bus shuttles connect participating venues.

IFA – Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin

The IFA has regularly taken place in Berlin since 1924. Today, with over 200,000 visitors and exhibitors from all over the world, this is the largest consumer electronics fair where both trade experts and the public can marvel at the latest technological developments. The IFA is equally known for its showprogramme: The summergarden-stage features famous stars with their latest hits and on the various showstages, you can see nearly everything from cooking show to autograph sessions.

44th BMW Berlin-Marathon

Berlin is a city of runners: every year, the BMW Berlin Marathon attracts around 40,000 runners, handbikers, and inline skaters from 120 countries, including numerous professional runners from Germany and abroad, for a race through Berlin, who are cheered on by enthusiastic fans. Berlin is also one of the fastest marathons besides Chicago and London.
