The art collection at The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago overall design revels in the city’s heritage of architecture, forward-thinking design and industrial innovation. Chicago’s famed steel skyline and surrounding waters of Lake Michigan are celebrated throughout the spaces. Supporting the visual storytelling, are doses of contemporary and majestic modern design pieces that echo throughout our property’s permanent collection.

Roy Lichtenstien – Wallpaper with Blue Floor Interior

This large composition comprising of five panel screens on waterleaf paper, depicts a modern room where luxury and comfort coexist in harmony. Created in 1992, the color screen-print is hand-signed and dated by Roy Lichtenstein on the fourth panel. The contemporary modern piece was positioned quite nicely on the lower lobby as a nod to the neighboring Museum of Contemporary Art.

The Flying Wave

Paying homage to Lake Michigan, the Flying Wave floating sculpture is made from four different types of hand-blown glass in blue tones reminiscent of the lake waters. This piece is a testament to Chicago’s modern architecture and industrial ingenuity.
