Bigger Hunger, Better Solutions

The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas has partnered with the North Texas Food Bank in support of their mission to ReThink Hunger. Since 2008, the NTFB has doubled the number of meals they provide across North Texas; however they continue to see new faces of hunger and through no fault of their own. More food cannot simply be moved out the doors; operational efficiencies and food distribution solutions are vital to effectively serving those in need. We invite your group to reserve a portion of its day and join us in creating a healthier, smarter and stronger food bank.
As a part of Bigger Hunger, Better Solutions, groups of 10 or more will visit one the NTFB’s two distribution centers to sort a variety of edible goods in the warehouse or prepare food-filled backpacks for the organization’s after-school kids program. This rewarding weekday program includes round-trip transportation between the distribution center and The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, snacks, bottled water and a personalized Community Footprints t-shirt for each attendee.

The restaurant kitchen is equipped with a state-of-the-art exhaust system which dramatically mitigates grease and smoke levels and currently is rarely placed in restaurants due to its extremely high cost.
The hotel conserves water by offering guests the opportunity to reuse towels and launder bed linens every other day, using low flow water fixtures and 90% drought tolerant landscaping with automatic rain shutoff sensors.
The clean-water cycle from 13 hotel ice machines is used to provide water to the building’s cooling towers, preserving water as well as power.
Multi-stage boilers and water heaters have been installed to conserve gas usage by the hotel.
Variable speed drives are located on all hotel motors to maximize electric energy conservation.
Power is conserved throughout the hotel by use of energy efficient light bulbs, motion sensor-detected lighting and by means of public and guest room thermostat setback programs.
The restaurant’s outdoor dining area is equipped with LED lighting, which conserves 80% of energy used by other forms of lighting.
The hotel offers a new 100% plant-based bottled water product by Prima®. The bottles use about 50% less energy and fossil fuels and 75% less greenhouse gases than a traditional plastic bottle. They are fully compostable and can be made into a brand new bottle.
The majority of hotel cleaning and service products and practices are environmentally responsible and sustainable (e.g. cloth hand towels, beverage napkins, logo cups, in-room stationary, safe cleaning chemicals, water-conserving landscape practices), and the hotel employs an environmentally-preferable purchasing policy.
Saline-treated swimming pool which exposes guests and the environment to fewer chemicals, making the swimming experience more comfortable for eyes, skin and the senses. Many guests equate swimming in a salinated pool to a soft-water bath – truly the ultimate in swimming comfort.
The hotel’s swimming pool and whirlpool utilize high-efficiency gas fuel-injected heaters for energy conservation.
The hotel recycles batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, glass, paper, plastic, aluminum, cooking grease and food waste for the creation of plant fertilizer.
Low VOX paints are used on wall surfaces throughout the hotel.
All hotel food & beverage outlets offer organic, local, and sustainable meats, produce, and products.
