THE RITZ-CARLTON, BALI EMBRACES LOCAL ENVIRONMENT WITH ENDANGERED SEA TURTLE PRESERVATION INITIATIVE
Each year nesting sea turtles flock to the pristine beaches of the Ritz-Carlton, Bali Resort to lay their eggs. As part of the Community Footprints program, the resort partners with the Bali Sea Turtle Society to protect the hatching sea turtles. A fence is erected around the nest and as the turtles hatch they are transferred to a “temporary home” where they are guarded from predators until big enough to safely enter the sea.
Guests are invited to join the turtle release and enjoy that wonderful moment as these delicate creatures splash their way into the nourishing waters of the Indian Ocean. Children lead the way, each receiving a Ritz Kids T-shirt identifying themselves as ambassadors of the environment. Back at the resort’s Ritz Kids club, turtle-themed decorations generate excitement for the hatch season and teach young guests about the importance of preserving the local environment.
