What to Pack
The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe

It’s no surprise that Lake Tahoe golf courses are known for their beauty, and the summer and fall months provide ideal temperatures for being out on the green. Pack your golf attire if you’re planning to tee off.

Winter Vacation

If you love hitting the slopes, you’re in luck. Lake Tahoe has the largest concentration of ski resorts in North America.

  • Bring your skis, snowboards and snowshoes — or leave them at home. You can always rent the equipment you need on-site.

  • Dress warmly. Pack waterproof jackets and pants, sweaters, thermals, thick socks, hats, gloves, scarves and winter boots (with traction).

  • Don’t forget your swimsuit for an après-ski dip in the whirlpool or hot tub.
Summer Escape

Whether it’s kayaking, river rafting or just hanging at the beach, summer in Lake Tahoe should be spent by, or in, the water.

  • Pack sunscreen and SPF-infused products. Though summer temperatures average in the mid-70s to upper 80s, the high altitude increases sunburn risk.

  • Nonslip, closed-toe shoes come in handy, whether you’re sailing or relaxing on a catamaran.

  • Summer nights are cool. Bring a warm jacket or sweater if you’re going to be out after sundown.
Outdoor Adventure

The lake may be the main attraction but hiking and mountain biking are some of the best ways to explore the area’s natural beauty.

  • Comfortable, sturdy footwear is essential. Make sure to pack a broken-in pair of hiking shoes to avoid blisters.

  • Tote your trail necessities, like water, snacks and sunscreen, in a sturdy waterproof backpack.

  • For hikes of any length, a hat is indispensable as the sun’s rays are more intense at high altitude.

Cruise to Emerald Bay and stop for a picnic, or get escorted to dinner and see the sunset on your way back. Guided kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing and wake-surfing excursions can also be arranged through the concierge.
