What is required by China for a legal wedding ceremony?
Marriage in China consists of a civil marriage registration by the couple at a Chinese municipal government office. The male partner must be 22 years of age or older and the female partner must be 20 years of age or older.

What do I need to know before contacting the hotel?

You should know the estimated number of guests, a date, and an approximate budget for your event. If possible, choose a few alternate dates in case your first choice is not available.

How far in advance should I reserve the date?

Although The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong often fills the most popular dates as far as one year in advance, other dates are typically available with less notice. Contact the hotel for more information about available dates.

What is the average cost per person for my wedding at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong?
Please refer to our wedding packages. Please be aware that we provide one-stop-wedding solutions to you for select variety wedding accessories. Your final pricing will be based on your actual selections.  

What are the deposits based on and when are they due?
Deposits are 50% of total estimated expenses after contract signed. One month prior to your event, another 50% of the estimated charges are due. The estimated final balance is due on your event.

When do I need to tell The Ritz-Carlton exactly how many guests will be attending my wedding?
The catering department must be notified of the exact number of guests attending a function at least 10 working days prior to the start of the event. This will be considered a guarantee, for which you will be charged, even if fewer guests attend the function.

Do the bride and groom get a complimentary room for the wedding night?
The hotel provides a complimentary guestroom for the bride and groom on the night of their wedding with the wedding room setup and in-room bath relaxation.

Are there special room rates for wedding guests?
For family and friends of the wedding party, The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong will be happy to quote preferential rates for the week of the event.

How do I arrange my wedding at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong?
Our wedding professionals will organize and coordinate all aspects of your wedding ceremony and reception to help create your vision, including:

How do I arrange for flowers?

Our in-house florist will prepare a range of seasonal arrangements, centerpieces, bouquets, headdresses, corsages and button-holes.

How do I choose the food for my reception?
Whether your reception is an intimate dinner or a lavish gathering, we offer a range of cuisines. From hors d’oeuvres and champagne cocktails to optional stations and gourmet buffets or formal Chinese set dinner with plated selections and synchronized service, all options are catered. Your wedding professional will assist you with choosing from our extensive menu.

I/my guests have special dietary needs; what are our options?
We are delighted to offer a selection of vegetarian, vegan, and Kosher cuisines for any dietary need. Please consult with your wedding planner for more details.

May I use outside vendors?

The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong provides one-stop-shop wedding solution. You may use outside vendors for your dress, bouquets, music, cards and gifts. A fee applies; contact your wedding professional for more details.

May I take wedding pictures at The Ritz-Carlton if my wedding is to be held elsewhere?
We reserve photography privileges for couples whose weddings or receptions are held at The Ritz-Carlton.

What kind of music is available?
Your personal wedding professional can help select the perfect musical accompaniment. Choices include a harpist, saxophonists, classical duos or quartets, jazz or salsa bands, or a DJ.
