Cooking School

June 11-12, 2008

In interactive, hands-on sessions -- presided over by Richard Gras, Chef de Cuisine of the resort’s AAA Five Diamond restaurant -- guests master professional culinary techniques, experience new tastes and work alongside the chefs in Salt’s kitchen. Appropriate for novice and experienced cooks alike, the schools are limited in size, allowing the chefs to tailor the class to the needs of the students and to provide personalized instruction.

The classes begin with coffee and pastries in Salt each morning. The first day features a “behind the scenes” tour of the resort’s kitchens, including the pastry shop, butcher shop and garde manger kitchen which gives the participants a glimpse into the inner workings of a 444-room resort and an understanding of the various responsibilities of the 45 member culinary team. Students then work with Chef Gras and his team to prepare all the elements of a four-course luncheon, which is served family style and paired with a selection of fine wines.

On the second day, participants build on their newly acquired skills as they prepare a complete gourmet feast and dine again with the chef. The cooking school concludes with the presentation of diplomas and exchange of phone numbers among new friends.

The Cooking School Classes are offered a la carte without room accommodations for $339 USD per person, inclusive.  Cooking School room packages are available starting at $639 per night.
