The resort re-opened on January 7, 2008 following an extensive $160 million transformation and features the following:

• 445 remodeled guestrooms, Club level accommodations and the addition of one and two bedroom Residential Suites, all with new furnishings and amenities, including dark wood floors, flat-screen televisions, new marble bathrooms with shower and separate tub, Hawaiian inspired artwork and spacious lanais.
• New Ritz-Carlton Spa, Kapalua with 15 treatment rooms offering Hawaiian inspired treatments, private outdoor shower gardens and new couples cabanas to open by June 2008.  There is a boutique spa on the 9th floor offering a range of spa and salon services.
• New Fitness center and yoga/movement studio with views of the Pacific Ocean currently available 24 hours daily.
• The Terrace and The AAA Four-Diamond Banyan Tree Restaurants feature new design concepts and furnishings.

The re-design of the restaurants at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua incorporates Hawaiian materials and imagery and includes the following:

• The Banyan Tree, the hotel's signature restaurant, features a new destination bar and lounge with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and Moloka'i.  The AAA Four Diamond restaurant presents a new innovative menu by Chef de Cuisine Jojo Vasquez.

• The new Kai Sushi restaurant is located in a new space off the lobby offering expanded seating with a design of the native Hawaiians' arrival across the sea with the freshest sushi selections by Chef Tadashi Yoshino. 

• The Terrace restaurant offers a full breakfast buffet and Regional Pacific cuisine for dinner and the design reflects architectural details of Maui's plantations.  The Terrace is now enclosed in glass with views of the pool and Pacific Ocean.

• The Alaloa Lounge has been expanded with increased outdoor space and re-designed with the Bar constructed of black lava stone and lighted amber glass.

• The Pool & Cafe is located near The Banyan Tree with a new design and increased seating options.

• The oceanfront Beach House restaurant continues to offer creative lunch options with spectacular views of the ocean.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Kapalua will double in size with a new design, drawing from the concept of Waihua, which the ancient Hawaiians believed was the most pure form of water captured by the leaves of the taro plant before it touched the earth.

The new Spa is slated to open in June 2008 and will feature the following:

• 17,500 square-feet space with water walls throughout the corridors
• 15 treatment rooms, with several opening to private outdoor shower gardens

• Authentic Hawaiian spa treatments developed by a Hawaiian practitioner and a range of body treatments, body scrubs and facial treatments

Preserving the Hawaiian culture is very important to The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, which proudly maintains the Honokahua Preservation Site, recognized as a "wahi pana" (sacred site) that lies adjacent to the hotel and serves as a destination where Native Hawaiians can gather to conduct ceremony and protocol.
