Duke’s Beach Bash
Passing through an archway of rich tropical flowers, your guests will journey back in time to the classic days of the Vintage Hawaiian Beach Bash. Duke Kahanamoku was a world-renowned surfer and King of the Beach Party. Duke’s Octagon bar recreates the look and feel of days gone by and establishes a focal gathering point for your partygoers. Guests are greeted by lavish displays of food spread out before thatched roof backdrops. A pineapple ice sculpture adorns a fountain of Mai Tais and paper garden lanterns dance overhead while the scent of rum and coconut fills the air. Brother Moku and the Pacific Storm, one of our favorite island bands, will get your guests moving to the rhythms of Hawaii. Without a doubt, this party will last long into the evening.
Born to be Wild Biker Bar
Envision a 10-foot metal truss arch dressed up with lights, chains and a “Hawg Heaven” club sign centered with your name at the top; two sleek and powerful “choppers” parked next to it, simmering with rising smoke. Inside, the sounds from the 60’s and 70’s pound through the theatrically smoke-filled air, in tune with lighting displays on the walls. A twelve-foot “Hog Biker”, complete with leather cap, Ray Ban sunglasses and tattooed arm acts as mascot. Forty-foot, black, metallic drapes styled with chrome chains and an eight-foot “Born to Be Wild” sign add to the atmospheric setting. The stage edge is trimmed with an aluminum truss decked out with more chains, bike parts, neon lights and street signs. A black and white checkered flag dance floor fronts the stage. Caged, go-go dancers set the mood for the guests. Get ready for the ride of your life as the evening revs into full throttle.
Jazz at the Ritz
At The Ritz-Carlton, glitz and glamour is our specialty. This elegant dinner party is a feast for the senses with gold-swathed décor and lush, fragrant flowers. Jazz sets the mood during dinner, while your guests enjoy the world-renowned cuisine of The Ritz-Carlton. When dinner is finished, your guests will be lured to the dance floor by a high energy dance band that makes the night come alive.
Rhapsody in Blue
Toast to your guests’ success with a champagne reception, passed hors d’oeuvres, and an attractive company logo displayed on ice. As a conch shell announces the start of dinner, the doors to The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom, Aloha Garden Outside Ballroom, or a specialty-designed tent open up to a room filled with elegance and style. The sounds of an upbeat jazz duo during the reception, five-piece dinner melodies band, and a seven-piece dance ensemble are heard throughout the evening. The royal blue swag ceiling treatments are incredible and are enhanced with clear or color coordinated “twinkle” tivoli lights to give a warm feeling to the room. Color coordinated linens, fiber optic stage lighting accents, and custom designed centerpieces posed on a light box give a feeling of fantastic style and an overall chic setting. The finishing touches (fiber optic stage lighting, area floral sprays, chair covers and themed menus) create the perfect lasting memory to an already action-packed program.
60’s Psychedelic Party
Travel back in time to the swinging sixties. Relive this psychedelic era with colorful airbrushed designs that will jump out at you under the eerie glow of black lights. Large flower, peace, and love signs are sure to set the mood for a groovy evening that people won’t soon forget. Your guests will enter the party through an airbrushed collage from the sixties. Rub-on tattoo artists, sixties “hair” character actors, and go-go dancers await them. A 5-piece acid rock band will play all of the classics from an era of legendary rock and roll. Servers dressed in authentic flower child garb accent the evening. This party is sure to wow and bring back the love child in all of us!
Cultural Programs
The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua excels at incorporating the unique culture and history of the islands into enjoyable group itineraries. The resort’s cultural advisor, Clifford Nae’ole, has created six cultural programs for meeting planners looking to bring a sense of the true Hawaii into their programs.
Spirit of Asia-Pacific Elegance
The scent of tuberose (a tropical island flower) wafts in the air, while elegant floral centerpieces spread across the room like a field of flowers. A sense of peace and serenity seems to emanate from the room, as all who enter are filled with an inexplicable feeling of happiness. The floral chandeliers accented with warm lighting lend an inviting feel to the “simple yet elegant” décor that entices guests who are wide-eyed with amazement. A different “touch of Hawaii” in a modern form will take your meeting experience to a higher level. Tonight your group’s success will be celebrated via island flavors, a fusion of music, cultural recognition and Asian elegance.
Pele Luau
Honor your group with a traditional evening of Hawaiian food, culture, and entertainment. The pathway from the hotel down to the Beach House lawn will glow with Hawaiian ambience as tiki torches light the way. Guests will be greeted by servers passing tropical libations. In the imu pit area, a kalua pua’ (pig) has been cooking slowly throughout the entire day. As the pua’ is pulled from the imu, our kumu will traditionally welcome each guest to sit at the luau tables and prepare themselves to enjoy the feast ahead. Hawaiian maidens and warriors will parade the kalua pua’ around the party on a koa wood board allowing for perfect photo opportunities. As the evening progresses, there can be doubt that all of the Polynesian islands were once touched by Pele’s hand, before making Hawaii her home. In tribute to her fiery power, and to once again appease Madame Pele, a three-man fire knife dance is presented, offering a grand finale that is sure to provide the perfect ending to a great evening.
Kapalua Butterflies
Dancing on sheer iridescence and light, the Kapalua Butterflies will enchant your guests. Hues of lavender, blue, green and amber blur in constant motion through the gently swaying gossamer fabric. This whimsical, yet formal setting is perfect for a final night gala.
A Zen Garden
A warm breeze drifts through the open-air pavilion. Images of gold and green bamboo shimmer on the walls. The Zen Garden awaits your guests. This elegant party will captivate with a simple, yet refined, style. Your guests will gather in a reception area separated from the dining area via hanging bamboo screens, raphis palms, and ikebana flower arrangements. A simple Asian duo sits on an elevated dais playing softly while your guests anticipate the evening ahead. A Taiko Drum performance announces the opening of dinner and your guests move into the dining room for a delightful and elegant dinner. An eye-catching centerpiece adorns each table. Chefs prepare lavish culinary displays in a buffet-style service including sushi and teppanyaki. The food is a show in and of itself. Once dessert has been served, the night picks up its pace and Jimmy Mac’s high-energy, dance band takes over. Celebrating late into the night has never been so Zen.
A Festive Polynesian Luau
The Hawaiian equivalent of family is Ohana. However, in the Hawaiian culture, the concept of Ohana extends far beyond one’s immediate family. Ohana is to be welcomed and loved unconditionally with a sincere attitude of aloha. As the Hawaiians say, “E Komo Mai,” come and enjoy the luau festivities as a family. Authenticity, simplicity and the expression of aloha are the key elements of the entertainment experience. Hawaii is the gathering place of the Pacific, thus the evening’s entertainment is a spectacular presentation of the Polynesians throughout the Pacific – the Tahitians, the Samoans, the Fijians, the Maori, and of course the Hawaiians. A Festive Polynesian Luau takes you on a journey throughout the South Pacific culminating with the breathtaking Samoan fire knife dance. Be Polynesian at heart and join the cast on stage as you dance the Tahitian Tamure. Hawaiian arts and crafts are an option, enabling guests to share in the culture of the Hawaiian people.
Under the Sea
A warm breeze drifts through the open-air pavilion. Beautiful whales, dolphins, and octopuses swim by. The ocean awaits you and your guests. This exciting and unique party will mystify and captivate you with a fun yet refined style. Your guests will enter the pavilion through “JAWS” and be amazed by Hawaiian monk seals, giant ocean stingrays, fish and turtle gobos, humpback whales, realistic 3D coral reefs, and tiger sharks. A conch shell blower announces the opening of dinner as exotic, dancing mermaids beckon your guests onward through the underwater playground. Submerged tropical flowers, proteas and carved fish accent an exquisite “undersea bubble bowl” centerpiece placed on a light box for extraordinary effect. For buffet style service, chefs prepare lavish displays of food including lobster and fresh Hawaiian fish. Dessert is announced by underwater creatures dancing crazily about to the rhythmic pounding of Taiko Drums. The evening’s entertainment starts off with an hour of elegant instrumental jazz then transitions to dance rhythms with The Motor City Angles. This 11-piece, powerhouse band is certain to get your guests on the dance floor.
