Under the culinary direction of Chef Hoshina Masanobu, Hanagatami offers only the finest sushi, kaiseki and teppanyaki. The sophisticated decor that combines contemporary influences with traditional Japanese design is a fitting backdrop for the talents of Chef Masanobu and the culinary team, who represent many years of experience in the artistry and preparation of fine Japanese cuisine.

With a yen for travel, Chef Masanobu’s culinary stints have taken him to Eastern and Western Europe, Asia and the United States of America.  In 1999, Chef Masanobu opened a Japanese restaurant in Prague, Czechoslovakia.  Whilst at The Oberoi Hotel, India from 1998 through 1999, Chef Masanobu imparted the art of Japanese cuisine through his culinary classes.  His previous stints included the Shangri-La Hotel, Philippines, the Yokohama Hotel in Japan, the Westin Hotels in Shanghai and Tokyo, and Hotel New Otani in Tokyo, where he gained culinary insight into French and American grill cuisines. 

Besides enrolling in a culinary programme on Chinese and Thai cuisines, Chef Masanobu has also taught in New York, Hawaii, Guam, Austria and Holland.
