Timeless Connections, Woven with Care

Weddings

Playful references to Hakata-ori and other time-honored textile and bamboo arts are woven throughout our hotel’s design, a proud nod to the centuries of exchange that link Fukuoka with the aesthetic traditions of mainland Asia. In weaving, it is said, each element is complemented by an opposite and thus takes deeper meaning from it—a metaphor, you could say, for life and relationships. Just as a couple vows to unite their lives for the sake of one, so, too, does a weaver create a singular fabric of beauty from separate threads carefully interlaced over time. To the couples who choose to embark on this journey of creation at The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka, we pledge our ongoing commitment and look forward to serving you throughout the many rhythmic cycles and patterns that will surely color your lives together.

Your Wedding Celebration

Two versatile venues, the Ballroom and the Studio, can be flexibly configured in size and layout to accommodate a seated banquet of up to 180 or 60 guests, respectively. Each has a generous foyer that can be used to welcome your guests with champagne or cocktails. The Ballroom is equipped with a six-meter-square LED screen ideal for entertaining with films and photographs. Pendant lights sparkle on the ceiling, and the upper walls are covered in the woven textile art of Hakata-ori, a Kyushu weaving tradition. The sun-filled Studio, meanwhile, is bright and airy and overlooks the greensward of Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City.

Chapel Ceremony

Elegantly uniting the design traditions of Europe and Japan, our chapel follows the formal layout of Western-style churches, with a center aisle and oaken pews on either side oriented toward the sacred space at the front. The altar, rendered in the form of a simple stage, is embellished only with the cypress latticework typical of temple and shrine inner sanctuaries. Soft light shines through this openwork, enveloping you and your betrothed in its warm glow.
