Playful references to Hakata-ori and other time-honored textile and bamboo arts are woven throughout our hotel’s design, a proud nod to the centuries of exchange that link Fukuoka with the aesthetic traditions of mainland Asia. In weaving, it is said, each element is complemented by an opposite and thus takes deeper meaning from it—a metaphor, you could say, for life and relationships. Just as a couple vows to unite their lives for the sake of one, so, too, does a weaver create a singular fabric of beauty from separate threads carefully interlaced over time.
