Distinguished Michelin star chef Hans Zahner is coming to Almaty for a special visit for the first time from June 12 to 15, 2019. Known for his innovative approach to French haute cuisine and bold experiments, he will present an exquisite tasting menu for guests of the new fine dining restaurant SEVEN Bar & Restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty.
The exclusive dinner that chef Hans Zahner offers to Almaty residents and guests of the city includes 7 courses. Among them are David Hervé Boudeuse oyster under a lemongrass jelly, foie gras terrine, Alaska king crab, Brittany seabass with smoked Chinese bok choy cabbage, leek and orange sauce, Klong Phai duck, roasted Australian wagyu beef tenderloin served with an impressive 20-layer carrot mille-feuille and cumin sauce, as well as apple confit.
“I was born in France, but have worked in many Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. I also gained tremendous experience in Asia. It inspired me to do more culinary experiments: in my kitchen I combine classic French recipes with ingredients, herbs and spices inherent in Asia. I think that probably the most interesting dish on the menu I offer is the king crab cooked with Thai red curry, dried tomatoes, coriander and galangal emulsion. The mixture of seemingly incompatible ingredients results in luxurious aromas and rich taste sensations, which, I believe, will be appreciated by residents and guests of Almaty,” commented chef Hans Zahner.
Hans Zahner, who is currently chef de cuisine of Tables Grill, a European haute cuisine restaurant at the five-star Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, served at the helm of Sir Elly’s French restaurant at The Peninsula Shanghai for almost three years, where he led the restaurant up the Michelin ladder to its current one-star ranking. In addition, during his career he managed to work in such Michelin restaurants as Paris Raffles (1 Michelin star), Four Seasons George V (2 Michelin stars), Alain Duccase (3 Michelin stars) and Lasserre (2 Michelin stars).
“This is the first gastronomic celebration that we have organized in our new gourmet restaurant SEVEN Bar & Restaurant. The skills of the guest chef, who already has two Michelin stars to his name, promise not only to impress the taste buds of our guests, but also to be remembered for a long time as an amazing gastronomic experience. Knowing the preferences of Kazakhstani people, we are sure that the well-thought-out combinations of ingredients in the dishes will definitely attract the attention of gourmets.
