Turtle Preservation
During nesting season, thoughtful preservation measures are in place to protect nesting turtles and newly hatched turtles as they make their journey to the sea. Turtle friendly amber lighting is used throughout the beachfront to reduce disorientation, while the beach is carefully cleared each evening to remove potential obstacles. Routine inspections are conducted in coordination with the Village of Key Biscayne to ensure adherence to conservation guidelines and support the successful nesting and hatching of these protected species.

Save the Loggerhead Sea Turtles
During sea turtle season in south Florida, loggerhead sea turtle nests house precious eggs that need up to 45 days to hatch, after which the newborn turtles — members of an endangered species — head into the ocean. Help protect these nests. Group guests can paint wooden stakes to mark the nest locations, ensuring the newborns’ safe and successful journey to the sea. An environmentalist from Crandon Park’s Key Biscayne Nature Center shares valuable information on the sea turtles and how guests can make a difference.
