  The Carpenter’s Shelter

The Carpenter’s Shelter

Bringing safe housing and hope to the homeless in our community.

Teams will begin their day with a tour of the common areas of the Residential Shelter and David’s Place and an overview of the programs from the Carpenter’s Shelter staff. Each team will then be given a specific task to improve the physical condition of the Shelter or the surrounding outdoor spaces. Tasks may include painting indoor or outdoor surfaces, planting greenery to beautify the courtyard and grounds, or organizing donations and supplies.

The Shelter is comprised of three main components to meet the needs of the area’s homeless.

  • David’s Place Day Shelter assists chronically homeless individuals to transition from living on the street by providing a safe haven with a shower, laundry services, a mailing address and phone service, job assistance, medical care and art therapy.
  • The Winter Shelter gives day-by-day emergency care to the homeless during inclement weather.
  • The Transitional Services Program provides a Residential Shelter for individuals and families, as well as transitional housing, child and family services and aftercare to keep families on their feet once they have achieved independence.
