However, we will be happy to host your wedding reception. For a legal Islamic marriage, the actual marriage contract needs to be conducted by a legal or religious representative in the court. The bride is asked in the absence of the prospective groom if she agrees to the marriage and this question is then put to the groom. After the agreement, the groom joins hands with his future father-in-law and, with two witnesses present the marriage becomes official. Expatriate workers can be married provided they meet the civil and religious requirements of their home country. Certain embassies and consulate staff can perform civil marriage ceremonies; again provided that certain requirements are met. Kindly contact your embassy for more details.

What do I need to know before contacting the hotel?

You should know the estimated number of guests, a date, and an approximate budget for your event. If possible, select a few alternate dates, in the event your first choice is not available.

How far in advance should I reserve the date?

To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking 12-15 months in advance; however, we may, on occasion, accommodate shorter or longer notice.

What is the average cost per person for food and beverage for my wedding reception at AlBustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel?
Based on our current banquet menus, you may expect to spend on average OMR 24 per person for dinner and soft drinks. This does not include alcohol, or the 17% service charge and sales tax. Kindly be advised that our menu items and pricing are subject to change and are guaranteed 90 days in advance. Your final menu pricing will be based on your actual selections.

What are the deposits based on and when are they due?
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. The estimated final balance is due thirty business days prior to your event.

When do I need to tell Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel how many guests will be attending my wedding reception?
The catering department must be notified of the exact number of guests attending the function at least 14 days prior to the date of the event. This will be considered a guarantee, for which you will be charged, even if fewer guest attend the function.

What are the cancellation policies?

In the unfortunate situation that an event must be cancelled, the deposit shall be retained as a cancellation fee, depending on how far in advance the event is cancelled. Guest room cancellations follow standard room cancellation policies. Kindly contact our catering department for further details.

Any other suggestions for planning my wedding?

Create your own wedding binder by clipping pictures from bridal magazines and make notes on what you have liked at other weddings. This will help you select your flowers, cake, room décor and other special touches to make your wedding uniquely yours.

May I hold my ceremony and / or reception outside?
We could provide outdoor catering in the venue of your choice, whether it is your home, garden or private marquee.

Our resident floral designers will be delighted to create seasonal arrangements, centerpieces, bouquets, headdresses and corsages. We can also create special themes and matching décor for your event setting.

Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel can recommend a wide range of specialty items and services to help personalize your event. Due to the specific nature of traditional Arabic weddings we can arrange customized stages, Arabic menus, and a private ladies entrance. All the above services may be obtained for a nominal rental fee. We can also assist you with welcome baskets, bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts and a variety of other special amenities to help add that personal touch to your wedding. Fees for above-mentioned items vary.

What are the responsibilities of a Wedding Specialist?
Your Wedding Specialist will:

  • Act as the on-site liaison between your wedding coordinator and the hotel operations staff
  • Monitor the status of your room block (if applicable)
  • Recommend Special Event Professionals to provide wedding coordination, music, floral, photography, ceremony officiant, invitations and amenities
  • Act as a menu consultant for all food and beverage selections
  • Create an estimate of charges outlining your financial commitments and deposit schedules
  • Create a floor plan and provide the hotel with your seating arrangements
  • Oversee the ceremony and reception room(s) set-up, food preparation and other hotel operations
  • Ensure a seamless transition to the Banquet Captain on the day of your event
  • Review banquet checks for accuracy, prior to the completion of your final bill
  • Coordinate your ceremony rehearsal and actual ceremony
  • Coordinate with vendors and Hotel Banquet Captain to ensure timeliness of your event.

Are there any guidelines or requirements for using outside vendors?
Yes there are guidelines for outside vendors; all vendors will be required to sign a Ritz-Carlton vendor agreement form.

Are there are any preferred event production companies that you can suggest?

Absolutely, our Wedding Specialist would be happy to share our registered and certified companies.

How do I select the food for my reception?
Whether your reception is an intimate dinner or a lavish gathering, we offer a range of cuisines. From hors d’oeuvres and champagne cocktails to optional stations and gourmet buffets or formal dinners with plated selections and synchronized service, all options are catered. Your wedding specialist will assist you with choosing from our extensive menu.

I/my guests have special dietary needs; what are our options?
We are delighted to offer a selection of vegetarian, vegan, and any special cuisines for any dietary need. Please consult with your wedding planner for more details.

Can The Ritz-Carlton provide my wedding cake?

Our pastry chef will ensure your new life together gets off to a sweet start. Choose from our imaginative wedding cakes and patisseries or customize your own creative temptations. If you have a photograph of a specially designed cake, we will be delighted to prepare that cake for you.
