Current Guided Hiking Offerings:
Sunset Vista Hike
A spectacular sunset awaits you during this guided hike through the Sonoran Desert, and ends with a refreshing cocktail in Ignite Lounge. This 2.7 mile hike allows you to witness our beautiful Arizona sunsets as well as giant saguaros. Reservations required.


Lower Javelina Ecology Hike
See the desert that surrounds the resort. Take in spectacular views from Pride Rock, and with a little luck, witness javelinas, jack rabbits and bobcats in their natural habitat. This two-hour hike ranges from about 2,800 feet to nearly 3,100 feet in elevation, covering 2.5 miles. Reservations required.

Alamo to Mustang Ridge Hike
This is one of the longest and most challenging hikes available in the Tortolita Mountains. Visit Alamo Spring, explore the back country and reach the highest point in the trail system via the Wild Mustang Trail. This 10 mile hike ranges from 2,800 feet to nearly 4,400 feet and lasts five hours. Reservations required.

Geocaching
For a fun and educational activity, we offer Geocaching. For this outdoor, electronic scavenger hunt, you will be equipped with a GPS device that will guide you through Wild Burro Canyon to predetermined locations. Once at tehse locations, you will need to locate the hidden cache box. The boxes are loaded with Ritz-Carlton collectables and some educational information about the area.

Biking
Use any of our bikes and go out on your own or let one of our knowledgeable guides lead you through the cactus-lined preserve trail. We offer a variety of bikes for off-roading or leisurely rides along the bike lanes surrounding the resort. Helmet and gloves provided. Reservations required.

Jeep Tours
Enjoy a thrilling desert jeep ride on a pristine trail in the Sonoran Desert with Trail Dust Adventures. Experience the desert first-hand with one of their knowledgeable guides who will lead you through the plants and animals native to the Sonoran Desert. Learn about the giant saguaro cactus, and with any luck get to see one of our fascinating desert creatures. Discover the history of the land and visit an ancient Hohokam site – one of the very first inhabitants of the area surrounding the resort.

Star Gazing
Southern Arizona is the Astronomy Capital of the World and enjoys 350 clear nights each year. As a result, several acclaimed observatories and sky science centers are based in the region, and The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain offers its own professional telescope experience directly on-site, at the patio of Ignite Lounge & Bar.
