This four day Christmas Festival is one of the highlights of the National Hunt Season and takes place in Leopardstown race course, only 15 minutes from The Ritz-Carlton. The course has been continuously upgraded and developed to become one of the premier racecourses in Europe, in terms of both the quality of racing and its facilities. Croke Park is Ireland’s largest stadium and it is hard not to get caught up in the excitement of the rugby games played here especially during the Six Nations Rugby series. The 2010 RBS 6 Nations Championship will kick-off in Dublin on Saturday, February 6, when Ireland meet Italy. The tournament will conclude in Paris on Saturday, March 20, when France meet England. The first home game in Croke Park is Saturday, February 6, when Ireland take on Italy. Saturday, February 13, see Ireland take on France and on Saturday, February 26, Ireland will play England.

In the spring, Opera Ireland will present five fully staged performances of Charles Gounod’s opera Romeo et Juliette paired with two concert performances of Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi. In all of the operas they promise you a blend of great Irish and international casts and creative teams, with all the passion, drama and energy which Opera Ireland brings to making the greatest of all the performing arts. The organisation will also present a second season of The Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD at cinemas throughout Ireland. Now an international phenomenon, this is the first time these spectacular high-definition live broadcasts from colleagues in the Metropolitan Opera in New York have been seen in Ireland and they are sure to be a great addition to operatic life here.

This is St.Patrick’s Day, the Patron Saint of Ireland and many celebrations take place throughout the country at this time. The Festivities in Dublin this year will run from Friday 12th March until Wednesday 17th March.   St. Patrick's Day is for all of the family as a large parade takes place in Dublin city centre with lots of exciting floats and characters for children and families to interact with. The Festival have been awarded 'Best live music or Entertainment Event' for The National Lottery Skyfest as part of St. Patrick's Festival.

Between Metaphor and Object features a range of works from the IMMA Collection, primarily sculptures and installation works principally from the 1990s. It provides perspectives on the diversity of practice that is represented in the IMMA Collection from this period, explores its particularities, and considers them in the context of international trends of the decade. Notably the exhibition incorporates a number of pieces from the Welkunst Collection, which is on loan to IMMA since 1994. This significant collection of British sculpture and drawings of the 1980s and ‘90s will return to the Welkunst Foundation in 2010 and so the exhibition acknowledges the generous loan of these works. The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt hotel is proud to be host to a wonderful collection of tulips which will be in full bloom in April. We will be working with The Jack & Jill Foundation who provide early intervention home respite to families with children up to the age of 4, with severe developmental delay who require extended care and De Jaeger bulbs who will donate over 10,000 bulbs to be planted in the grounds of the hotel. Festival plans are under way and it promises to be a fun weekend for all the family plus an opportunity to help raise awareness and some funds for The Jack & Jill Foundation.

With a great blend of local bands and performers from all corners of the globe, this festival oozes cool and attracts passionate crowds from all over Ireland. During the weekend event, over 150 acts perform on a programme that is nothing if not eclectic with past performers ranging from the Bagdaddies, with their high energy dance floor grooves, to the more traditional sounds of popular Irish band, Zrazy. The first Bray Jazz Festival was held in 2000 and has been entertaining large crowds of music lovers and jazz aficionados ever since.

The Wicklow 200 is a non-competitive cycle ride that takes place on one day every June. It covers 200 kilometers around the roads of beautiful County Wicklow (the Garden of Ireland) and attracts over 2000 cyclists from many different countries. The shorter Wicklow Challenge takes place on the same day, and shares most of its route with the Wicklow 200. The route is very challenging. It includes many climbs, big and small, with some up to a height of 500 metres. The total climb is over 2000 metres so the event should not be taken lightly. For more information see wicklow200.ie.
