Rainforest Rescue: Saving El Yunque

El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest system, spanning over 28,000 acres. Here, hundreds of species of trees and vegetation thrive, providing a verdant home to animals, amphibians and birds. You will arrive at the rainforest in the morning, where US Forest Service representatives will tell you about its ecosystems, provide safety information and explain what efforts are necessary to keep it healthy and alive. Dependent on needs and weather, your participation will vary, such as painting bridges, maintaining picnic areas and keeping recreational facilities and trails clean, safe and barrier free.
